Trust, purpose, transparency and a learning attitude are the foundation to creating an engaged, effective and creative workforce. Join our six-session, online programme to get started with these fundamental concepts of autonomy and empowerment. This will be a hands-on programme exploring case-studies, sharing practical ‘how-tos’ while learning and experimenting in a supportive peer group.
This programme covers concepts such as team decision-making, setting boundaries, the new role of the manager and many others, through the lens of self-management. Whether you intend to transform your organisation or simply seek new tools to enhance your teamwork, this series will give you a wealth of practical tools and insights to get started.
The programme is aimed at leaders and change-makers who realise that different ways of organising may be required to deliver on their organisation's potential. Whether you are a start-up or a scale-up who is grappling with the need for more control or a larger organisation that needs a fresh injection of ways to unleash the potential of its people, this programme will deliver bags of practical input. It will leave you with the confidence to take on the challenges at hand.
In six highly interactive and engaging sessions of 3 hours, held online every three weeks, we will cover the following:
Session 1: About self-management
Session 2: Being purpose- and principle-led

When I started the course, I was a little concerned it wouldn’t be relevant to a small start-up like Forage. But I quickly realised that pretty much all of the tools are completely attuned, helpful and in fact might actually be easier to implement than in a larger company! – Matt Wakefield, founder of Forage Studio
I have learned lots about the theory, (more than I knew already!) and had many questions answered. I have loved the in-depth conversations and discussions and feel that I know much more about how [autonomy and empowerment] work. I now understand the complexity of self-managed organisations and I think I understand how to go on the journey to get there with GCBC. – Rae Bell, Gloucester Community Building Collective
What I have taken away is that self-management is the future for all organisations. And it is hard but just give it a try, you may like it. – Damian Mears, co-founder Third Space Group
What I have learnt is the theory and practice of self-management; including practical tools and approaches, wider concepts and examples of organisations who are already doing it. I have had an opportunity to reflect with people from different backgrounds/organisations about my ambitions (and theirs). I felt excited, curious and connected with the trainers and the course participants. - Anne Brinkhoff, former Local Authority executive director
